Not a fan of the horrible attitude that the young kid working the front register had, he was very snappy from the get go. We checked aisle 19 which was supposed to be safety equipment, when we couldn’t find it we asked the young kid working at the front registered and he seemed very annoyed that he was being bother when he snapped out of”All of our tape is in aisle 21, but I don’t think we sell it”. When we couldn’t find what we were looking for again we went to the older gentleman towards the back and come to find out it’s in aisle 20. The kid came around the snap out “where is it?!” At me and then walk down the aisle with me to the caution tape like I needed a babysitter after he wasn’t able to help properly. I will give them credit for the clean stores and good prices but it wasn’t a lovely experience at all. Paterson’s has always been my go to hardware store but this was an easy way to run me off.

Came in to drop off UPS package, which they offer the service, and immediately Mark started complaining about it.. size of the package, how they aren’t paid enough to offer the service, and how he does not have time for it. I told him that I would need a receipt for the package and he said “well it’s going to be a little bit then” I said ok, and I told him that he was kind of being rude. He didn’t care. Wow-don’t offer the service then..my husband shops there all of the time because it’s small and close to our home. Not anymore.

Went in today and the younger guy was so lost. He tried to charge me again for an online order. Then the sand bags had holes in the so they put 2 pieces of tape on each bag. I bought another bag to replace the sand that I was losing but I was charges $5 more. When I came back to see why since I was only buying it because the other bags were leaking. The assistant manager was very nasty and rude and was allowing his young employee to talk very rudely to me. Whwn i asked the young man not to speak to me, the assistant manager snapped at me and tried not to do my return. He had to call his manager because he didn't even know how to do it. Then they kept the items and told me they can only give me half of my money back and I have to get the rest from online. But they didn't have a number and gave me nothing o say they had the items. I ordered from the maplecrest store and had no issues. Friendly and their bags weren't leaking. Wells street is a joke! I'll never go there again.

I've been meaning to tell of my experience with Alexis at Do it Best, Fort Wayne. What an amazing experience and I admit I was prepared to need an older gentleman to assist me. This adorable young goth girl, how much could she know?
She hooked me up with the right grit sandpaper,showed me how to attach it to the ancient sander I had just bought at a secondhand store, Powered off the crusty screws like a strongman, while we talked platform shoes and Barbie movie. I will not go to another do it yourself place, I've found my spirit animal!
Everyone was quite nice actually, but my girl taught me a lesson.
This boomer thinks she's the bomb!

Visited for the first and last time today. Younger employee was very helpful, I was just looking at what all was carried here. I was interested in a DeWalt 20v blower. After looking through the store, I finally found them near the shovels up front. Older employee just starts yelling at me because I was apparently behind the counter looking at the DeWalt stuff. Why is the counter in front of the DeWalt stuff? Why can't I look at the stuff? Why does this man feel the need to yell at me? Slightly less dusty than other Do-It- Best stores in town.l, ill give you that, but I'll drive to an Ace hardware out of town in either Columbia City, Auburn, or Bluffton where no one ever yells at me for looking at the DeWalt stuff for sale.

Manager was rude and belligerent when asked questions about their participation in the city’s light disposal program. He refused to accept bulbs. I called the Illinois Rd. location and they were happy to answer my questions in a polite way that provided the help I needed. Would not recommend supporting this location.
